Slingshot Aerospace Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2021

AUSTIN, TX / EL SEGUNDO, CA—March 9, 2021, Slingshot Aerospace, Inc., a leader in situational awareness technology, announced today that it has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2021.

“I am so proud of our team’s accomplishments and honored to be amongst these amazing companies as a top 10 honoree,” said Melanie Stricklan, Co-founder and CEO, Slingshot Aerospace. “As the global space industry increases in scope and complexity, I’m thrilled that our dynamic, virtual environments and simulations are paving the way to ensure space remains a safe and secure gateway of discovery, and continues to be a core tenet of our global economy for generations to come.”

Slingshot Aerospace products include Slingshot Orbital, a first of its kind air traffic control system for space, and Slingshot Laboratory, an immersive space simulation tool for the Space Force to teach students and seasoned professionals the fundamentals of space domain awareness, as well as complex astrodynamics.

Slingshot Orbital is the only product that aggregates commercial and government information collected from space. The product validates the accuracy of the information collected by comparing data from different providers to ensure its integrity while also facilitating a framework for consistent reporting. The real-time space domain awareness solution applies advanced analytics and machine learning to characterize space objects, detect threats, and enable confident decision making while identifying inconsistencies among sources. By bringing all the information together in one place, Slingshot Orbital enables quick and informed decisions in critical situations.

Slingshot Laboratory will provide a new, modern and engaging way to perceive, comprehend, and predict object relations in space and orbital scenarios. The goal of the Slingshot Laboratory as an educational tool is to help forge the next generation of Space Force leaders. It will also be designed with real-world capabilities that can help Space Force operational centers nationwide with scenario planning, and will be commercialized for use in STEM programs and higher education.

Fast Company’s editors and writers sought out the most groundbreaking businesses across the globe and industries. They also judged nominations received through their application process. Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies honors the businesses that have not only found a way to be resilient in the past year, but also turned those challenges into impact-making processes. These companies did more than survive, they thrived—making an impact on their industries and culture as a whole.

“In a year of unprecedented challenges, the companies on this list exhibit fearlessness, ingenuity, and creativity in the face of crisis,” said Fast Company Deputy Editor David Lidsky, who oversaw the issue with Senior Editor Amy Farley.
